Most of you know the concept of a captive (re-)insurance company as a risk mitigation tool. Some of you have founded a captive and are using it as an active insurance tool.
But do you know a “Protected Cell Company” or PCC, an alternative, flexible and securitized insurance risk management tool for both large and mid market or smaller companies?
PCC’s have been created to provide a solution for companies who wanted to take advantage of the risk management solutions offered by a traditional single parent captive insurance but who did not want to establish a captive of their own. PCC’s have segregated assets, don’t need the volumes of a traditional captives, and are comparable with the rent-a-captive concept.
PCC’s can be a solution for
– organizations too small, based upon premium spend, to form their own single parent captive,
– companies who are required to segregate insurance assets and liabilities, examples include: by division or territory; regulated and non- regulated business; risks associated with a joint venture, a special project or a strategic alliance;
