1.ORGANIZOR

This competition is organized by BELRIM – Belgian Risk Management Association v.z.w. / a.s.b.l. with registered office at Avenue de Tervuren 273/16, 1150 Brussels, Belgium, registered at the Belgian trade register under the number 0414.101.611.

These are the official competition regulations and can be modified or brought up-to-date by BELRIM at any time. BELRIM will inform the participants of such modifications by email and on its website www.belrim.com.

By participating in the competition, the participants declare to have read and approved these competition regulations.

 

2.WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS COMPETITION?

The competition is open to students or former students of Belgian universities and/or university colleges, i.e. university higher education institutions whose courses prepare for specific professional practices

The participants must have been students of a Belgian university and/or university college and the author(s) of the workpaper, end of study work, or thesis of a Belgian university and/or university college. The participants) must have succeeded his/her studies at the moment of the deadline for the introduction of the final work and presentation, i.e. by July 1.

The participant cannot compete however on his/her own but must be supported and presented by his/her university and/or university college: A letter of recommendation by the Dean of the university and/or university college and/or the promotor of the workpaper, end of study work, or thesis must be joined to the participant’s file.

 

3.WHAT ARE THE AUTHORIZED SUBJECTS

The main part of the workpaper, end of study work, or thesis must be related to risk or insurance management topics.

There is no topic limitation to any academic sector :

As examples only, main topics could be  :

  • Legal aspects of the risk management and/or insurances,
  • Regulations,
  • Quantitative aspects (stochastics, databases, …),
  • Qualitative aspects,
  • Operational risks (human, technology, environment, market/commercial, cyber, supply chain,…),
  • Financial risks,
  • Human risks
  • Environmental risks
  • Prevention (human, technical, organisational,…),
  • Insurance products,
  • Processes (risk identification, risk control, risk transfer, ERM, …),

There is no topic limitation to any industrial sector :

As examples only, main topics could be related to :

  • Industrial risks,
  • Financial institutions,
  • Services,
  • Country risks,
  • Public affairs,

 

4.PRESELECTION

Preselection process

A preselection file must be presented to the BELRIM scientific committee before  April 15, at 23h59.  Preselection files received after this date will not be taken into consideration.

At this stage, it is not necessary for the work paper, end of study work or thesis to be finalized.

The preselection file (only accepted in English, French or Dutch) includes :

  • The identification sheet of the participant and of the university and/or university college
  • The recommendation letter of the university and/or university college/promotor
  • A brief summary (maximum two pages A4 format) of the work paper, end of study work or thesis that highlights the link between the work paper, end of study work or thesis and risk management.
  • The anticipated table of content of the work paper, end of study work or thesis
  • A signed and dated copy of these competition regulations.

If necessary, participants can always withdraw from the competition at any time.
