Bylaws French - Dutch Directors

In 1974 the risk managers and executives of insurance companies and industrial, commercial and service companies decided to create the Association of Insured of the Industry (GAI/VVI), in order to :

• create a meeting place for risk managers to exchange ideas, problems and experiences concerning the management of risks and insurances;
• ensure the continuity of a competitive insurance market with a sufficiently long term stability;
• act as a spokesman with regard to the authorities, the administration, the Federation of Belgian companies, the Belgian Association of Insurance companies, the Banking, Finance and Insurance commission (C.B.F.A.), and the world of insurance on the whole.

In 1992, the association changed its name to

BELGIAN RISK MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (BELRIM)

Working parties were created within the association in order to handle specific problems concerning fire, extra-legal pensions, informatics, liability, personnel, etc. This initiative allows us to inform the members about new legal prescriptions, the evolution of the insurance market, and to defend their opinion against the concerned environments.

On a regular basis, specialists from the insurance sector are invited by the association to a BELRIM EXCHANGE. During these meetings the members can exchange their experiences and increase their knowledge on how to manage risks.
Moreover, a monthly news letter is edited to keep the members up to date with the activities of their association.

BELRIM is also an active participant of various conferences organized by other organisations and universities.

Since 1992, the Commission of Insurance has recognized the role of BELRIM by enthrusting to two Directors the seat reserved for the Insured Members of Industry and Commerce.

On an international level, BELRIM is member of the Federation of European Risk Management Associations (FERMA), which allows the exchange of information on a European level between the affiliated national associations.

Every two years, FERMA organizes a congress, called Risk Management Forum. This is an ideal opportunity for risk managers, brokers and insurers from all over the world to meet.

On the other hand, the associaiton is a member of the International Federation of Risk and Insurance Managers Association (IFRIMA, New York), established in 1984 in order to promote the practice of risk management on a worldwide basis.
